Dual Language Immersion (DLI) at North Cache Middle School
Welcome to the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at North Cache Middle School! At our school, students have the opportunity to continue their studies in Chinese and Portuguese, building on the strong foundation established in elementary school. Our program is designed to help students advance their language skills, deepen cultural understanding, and prepare for future academic success in their target language.
What Does the Middle School Pathway Look Like?
Students in grades 7-8 at North Cache will participate in the following courses to advance their language abilities:
- DLI Honors Language Course (1.0 credit/year): A two-trimester course designed to develop advanced language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- DLI Culture and Media Course (0.5 credit/year): A one-trimester course exploring the target language’s culture, media, and communication styles.
By the end of 9th grade, students are encouraged to take the AP Language Exam to assess and certify their language proficiency.
