John Anderson
- School Land Trust Plan Review
- Our ELA 54.5% proficient, Math 60.5%, Science 64%. These scores are higher than nearly all comparable schools in the state. These scores include both 7th and 8th grade. ● Our goal is to increase our percent proficient on End Of Year testing by 2%. ● Discussed adjustment to our goals. Hopefully we will have data for the next meeting. ● Chunk of money to attend conference with the teachers who have never been. ● Reallocation of funding from not attending the PLC conference to support Focus PD that supports our TSI needs and plan.
- The plan must meet our greatest academic need. The SCC will use that data to decide what our greatest academic need is. We need to start diving into the data in January. ● We can look at culture and climate. Have already completed a leadership survey and we could add a culture and climate survey.
- We can also spend money on character education. Currently using some funds on the Academic Mentorship Program (AMP).
- Working lunch is also part of this funding.
- Discussed the ISP/AMP room being a dual room. It is a place that can have students who have made poor choices, but it can be turned around into an “academic win.” ● Assistant Superintendent asked to let parents know that one School Resource Office is shared between all 3 middle schools in the district. “How do parents perceive having a School Resource Officer in the school?”
Member:
- Likes SRO because it gives them the opportunity to build relationships with students. Member:
- Makes them feel like their child is safe and protected.
John:
- Trying to determine the need for SRO within the district in middle schools? ● Would it be better to have more SRO presence, or just additional help in the schools? Terri Rhodes:
- Asked how they felt about it?
Cindy:
- Would like an additional administrator.
- Putting in 10 plus hours a day and aren’t making a dent.
- An additional administrator could help with things an SRO can’t deal with. ● Our day is a triage.
Noted: Some of the high schools have the same amount of students with an additional administrator and a full time SRO.
Member:
- We could do a parent volunteer roster.
Cindy:
- We have tried to do that before and we got one volunteer.
- Debbie Rees has tried to get people into the school to greet kids, but we couldn’t get any volunteers.
- We have put it in the newsletter, on the justserve.org
Teri:
- Maybe we could run it every six months.
Member:
- We could have people just come on an as needed basis, and we could have people come in at 15 minutes per time.
- Wondering how it would work out from a managerial perspective.
Member
- Please let the PTA know if we can help with anything.

Motion to Approve: Everyone approved
Current Plan & Budget Review:
- John Anderson: Visited with Ann Hunt. She indicated that we are doing great with the budgets.
- Greatest concern is salaries and Ann indicated that we are right on target. ● Professional development budget is getting eaten up. The 3 screens assembly is using some of the budget, and the charge for the assembly came in under budget. The kids seemed to like the 3 screens assembly.
- Holding on $6000 dollars in contracted services because we couldn’t get a Vista teacher this year.
- We were able to order a cart full of chromebooks that took some money out of the technology budget.
Draft our 22-23 School Land Trust Plan
- John shared a handout of the DRAFTED 2022-2023 School Land Trust Plan. John went all of the way back to 2018 and compared those scores to 2021. There was discussion about our schools RISE scores and compared them to the rest of the state. Discussion about the dedication of North Cache Staff and board members expressed appreciation.
- Discussion about the purpose of the goal for the plan while trying to determine the number for the proficiencies.
- John proposed that we ask for 1% growth from our best previous score. The team agreed that it would be most appropriate for us to look at the best historical number from RISE as the standard to measure against.
- Discussion about the cost of the AMP program and salaries associated with that. ● Other schools are using their trustlands money to “buy” another teacher to diminish class sizes. (Everyone agreed that it is a valuable program that needs to continue)
- Everyone agreed that the proposed plan looks good so far.
Council member asked about the 8th grade Yellowstone trip. Mr. Anderson indicated that the Yellowstone trip will not happen this year.
North Cache Middle School
School Community Council
2/9/22 Agenda
Discussion about the new schedule with the 45 minute prep time at the end of the day. Mixed feelings. District has indicated that they will evaluate number at the end of the trimester to determine if they should continue with adjusted schedule.
